The Best Way to Create A List

How to create a list – for profit

If I had a penny for every time I have heard or read the phrase ‘The Money is in the List!’ I would be a very wealthy individual in these few words I am going to dispel that myth for ever. I could create a list of millions but they would not earn me as much money as a careful constructed list of like-minded people numbering few hundred at the most. So from the above statement you can gather that I am not a great believer in ing to create a list of thousands unless of course you are skilled enough to create and maintain a personal relationship with each member of your list.

Let us see if we can lay down some guidelines to help you create a list that will give a great ROI (Return on Investment). No shame in admitting that this is why you build a list in the first place. If you do not intend to use your list to earn future money but only offer information then building personal relationships with each one is not so critical.

How do you Create a List?

There are a number of ways that you can create a list; one of the most popular is that of establishing a squeeze page. A strange name I know but putting it simply a squeeze page is usually a one page site that introduces you and has a place where visitors can leave their name and email address to receive further information if they are interested in what you have to offer while you can create a database.

Setting up the part of the page where visitors can leave their details is not as complicated as you may have thought. First you must use the services of an Autoresponder company such as Aweber or GetResponse, these companies will generate HTML code that you place into your WEB page that produces the small form to collect the visitors details. That is all the detail I am going to cover in this article Autoresponders such as those mentioned have good video training sections showing you how to create mailing lists to help you succeed. Have a look around the Internet at different squeeze pages and you will quickly understand what you must do to create mail lists.

You may want to Create a List but How Do You Get Visitors to Leave Their Details?

I can promise you this that visitors to your page will not stay long unless you have good valuable information to keep them there. Will good information alone encourage them to leave their details, well it can if makes a promise of more excellent information to be found in return for their details but it is not likely. There is a process that when followed will help you create a list that will stay with you if you look after them.

First make sure that your headline is strong and keyword rich it should encourage your visitor to want to know more. Perhaps posing a ‘Question?’ or stating ‘the BEST way…’ type headlines work best.  Your visitor will want the question answered and a solution to a problem offered to encourage them to swap their personal details for the information. An equally attractive offer is a FREE REPORT or Manual in exchange for their personal details. One word of warning here is that the FREE Report or e-Book must be related closely to the theme of your WEB site. It is no good offering a ‘How to catch the biggest fish’ type FREE REPORT if the theme of your WEB site is getting rid of Acne in Three Days. I know that is extreme but you get the message. Also the report or e-book must be high quality and should not

What Can You Do Once You Create a List

Well, as I said before you can get a fair return on your investment as long as you build a good personal relationship with each person when you create a list. For a start to begin building that relationship you can send a regular newsletter that offers your members valuable information. You do not need to write every day but you should put a schedule together; once again this is done through your Autoresponder. Using the Autoresponder means that whenever a visitor joins your list they get the first newsletter unless you determine it otherwise. It could be essential for them to receive the first news letter if you are using it to build on a theme. This begins to build a level of trust between you and them and if you write your newsletter not like a newspaper or a book, but rather as you would sit and talk to a close friend so much the better, it does not need to be grammatically correct, when was the last time you spoke to a friend using correct grammar. You will be forgiven for the odd mistake if you offer good useable information.

Every third or fourth newsletter can be used to promote your own product or as an affiliate. You must never try to sell in every communication with your members, well you can but your messages will not be opened if you do and quickly members will send in their cancellation notices.

Make sure you build in the facility to use their name not just at the start of the newsletter but throughout it also, do not overdo it, again think about talking to a friend how often during your conversations do you use their name that is about right for your newsletter also. If you can include your photograph do so, for it makes the letter personal when your subscriber can put a face to your words. Talk about your family what you are doing where you are going for your holidays anything that you would say to a friend, once again though do not get carried away, temper your enthusiasm with valuable information that they can use  quickly. Always include a section telling them what they will find in the next newsletter, it is proven that by doing this your members are more likely to remain subscribed.

I hope this helps you when you consider the question “How to create a list?
